As we have discussed, Sun Basket offers a large variety of different meals which will include a great range of ingredients that change from week to week.

Because of this, we couldn’t possibly examine the health benefits of all possible ingredients, therefore we have investigated the ingredients featured in the sample menu above:


Spinach is a great source of antioxidants, which are the line of defence against damage causing molecules called ‘free radicals’.

Free radicals are created as a waste product within our bodies, they scavenge oxygen from our cells and are one of the causes of premature ageing, diabetes and cancer. (1)

Spinach also contains large quantities of carotenoids ‘zeaxanthin’ and ‘lutein’, which are beneficial to eye health.

These carotenoids are already present in small amounts in our eyes, which means they help to defend them from the damaging rays of sunlight. (2)

Furthermore, research suggests that lutein and zeaxanthin can prevent deterioration of vision and even protect against cataracts. (3,4)


Eggs are nutritionally dense and capable of lowering bad cholesterol, while also promoting an increase in good cholesterol. (5)

Side Effects

There is minor potential for digestive troubles caused by a change in diet, or discovering a new ingredient which isn’t compatible with you for whatever reason.

If your diet wasn’t varied before, you may experience some bloating, nausea, gas, diarrhea or constipation as you adjust to the new ingredients and mix of meals. However, this should quickly subside with time.
